Google Unveils 10 New AI Tools to Transform Workspace for Billions of Users

Google has unveiled a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) tools for its email, collaboration, and cloud software, aimed at transforming the work of marketers, lawyers, scientists, and educators. The company’s upgraded Google Workspace will enable AI to draft a marketing blog, training plan, or other text, and then revise its tone at users’ discretion.

Additionally, Google’s AI can summarise message threads in Gmail, craft slide presentations, personalize customer outreach and take meeting notes. The upgraded Google Workspace, which is used by billions of free and paid accounts, will allow users to speed up writing and creative tasks.

The introduction of generative AI, which learns from past data to create content anew, has spurred a race in Silicon Valley. Alphabet is giving approved test users access to new Workspace features on a rolling basis throughout the year, similar to how Alphabet and Microsoft phased the release of their chatbot programs.

Google also unveiled a range of generative AI tools for its cloud-computing customers. Access to PaLM, one of its most potent “large language models”, will allow customers to fine-tune its AI model with their own data while keeping the information and benefits proprietary.

The company also demonstrated how a fictional furniture business could build better customer-service chatbots capable of generating images as well as text. The chatbot could integrate with a payment system so a shopper could purchase the chair.

Alphabet has announced a partnership with high-profile AI research lab Midjourney, with Google to provide cloud infrastructure, including its custom “TPU” chips.

Microsoft is expected to make a similar announcement on Thursday. However, Alphabet is wary of societal harm as well as damage to its reputation as a reliable source of information. Such software remains prone to inaccurate responses known as “hallucinations”.

In conclusion, Google has taken another step towards improving its services with AI technology. The company remains deeply committed to responsible AI, giving control to customers, and reviewing the proper use of its products.
