Apple is set to announce the next version of its software updates for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other products at the World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2023, scheduled for June 5. The company has confirmed that the upcoming event will be held on June 5 and that it will unveil iOS 17.
According to reports, the new iOS update is expected to be rolled out to all eligible devices after the iPhone 15 launch event in September. The iPhone 14 models are expected to get the new iOS update, along with some older models that are likely to be eligible.
However, the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X may not be eligible for the iOS 17 update. These models are believed to be at the end of their software update cycle, and they have already received the latest iOS 16.4 update. The three models have received five major iOS updates, which suggests that they might not get the upcoming release later this year.
If the leaked details are true, the iPhone X will be the first iPhone with a notch display to not get a new software update since its launch. The handset’s launch marked a decade since the unveiling of the first iPhone back in 2007.
Apple has not commented on the list of eligible iPhone models for the iOS 17 update, but a confirmation is expected once iOS 17 is announced at WWDC 2023. In addition to the iPhone, the MacRumors report also revealed that the iPad Pro 9.7-inch, iPad Pro 12.9-inch, and iPad fifth-generation will not be eligible for the upcoming iPadOS 17 update.
Overall, Apple users are excited about the upcoming iOS 17 update and eagerly await confirmation on the list of eligible devices. The company’s WWDC event is always highly anticipated, and this year’s conference promises to be no different. Stay tuned for more updates on the latest Apple products and software updates.
