WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new user interface (UI) for Android users. According to a report by WhatsApp development tracker WABetaInfo, the new UI will have a redesigned bottom bar navigation, similar to that of WhatsApp for iOS, making it easier for users to switch between Android and iOS platforms.
The upcoming update is expected to include the new UI on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.8.4. The bottom navigation bar will have four options, which include Chats, Communities, Status, and Calls. This will enable users to quickly access important features from the bottom-placed navigation bar.
Currently, WhatsApp for Android and iOS has different user interfaces. The new UI will make it easier for users to switch between the two platforms seamlessly. However, there is no official word from the company about the new feature or when it will be rolled out to beta users for testing.
In addition to the new UI, WhatsApp is also reportedly working on a feature that allows users to lock specific chats using a fingerprint or passcode for Android users. The feature will let users hide their private chats from others and media files sent in a locked chat won’t be saved in the phone’s gallery automatically.
