The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is rumored to be the next-generation processor expected to succeed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The new chipset is expected to feature an advanced Cortex-X4 prime core with a peak clock speed of 3.7GHz, promising significant performance upgrades over its predecessor. Although there has been no official announcement yet from Qualcomm, the chipset has reportedly been spotted on two benchmarking websites.
According to a Weibo post, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 could comprise one prime core, five performance cores, and two efficiency cores, or two prime cores, four performance cores, and two efficiency cores. The post also includes screenshots of the alleged Geekbench and AnTuTu performance scores, indicating that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scored 2,563 and 7,256 points in Geekbench 6 single- and multi-core tests, respectively. The AnTuTu score of 1,712,271 is much faster than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
The launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be about “just over 200 days” from now, according to the Weibo post, aligning with the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in November. However, as there has been no official announcement from Qualcomm, it is best to take these claims with a pinch of salt.
A recent MyDrivers report citing tipster Digital Chat Station claims that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will have five performance cores and two efficiency cores. This rumored flagship chipset could be unveiled by Qualcomm at its annual summit in Hawaii later this year. In March, developer, and tipster Kuba Wojciechowski also made similar claims about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be a high-end smartphone chipset. With the promise of significant performance upgrades, many anticipate its release later this year. However, until there is an official announcement from Qualcomm, it is important to approach these rumors cautiously.
