WhatsApp is now testing a text editing feature for select beta testers on Android, with an iOS version expected to follow soon. The messaging platform has been working on this feature for some time, having previously tested it on both Android and iOS platforms.
According to reports, the text editor feature will enable users to edit images, videos, and GIFs using new tools and fonts. The feature is available with the Android 2.23.7.17 update, and users can switch between fonts by tapping on the font options displayed above the keyboard. The text alignment can also be set to left, center, or right, providing more control over formatting. Additionally, users can alter the background color of the text to differentiate important text from the rest.
Five new fonts have been made available to beta testers, including Calistoga, Courier Prime, Damion, Exo 2, and Morning Breeze. The new creative tools will provide a greater level of control over text formatting, enhancing the user experience on the platform.
WhatsApp is also reportedly working on an edit message feature, which will include an ‘edited’ label visible to all participants in the chat. This feature will enable users to make changes to their messages after sending them, providing more control and flexibility in communication.
The text editing feature will be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks, and an iOS version is expected to be available for beta testers soon. The new features will further cement WhatsApp’s position as one of the leading messaging platforms globally, as it continues to enhance its offerings for its users.
