Overcoming Challenges: Yatri Motorcycles’ 4-Year Struggle to Register Homegrown Electric Vehicles

Yatri Motorcycles, the homegrown electric motorcycle manufacturer in Nepal, has denied recent rumors that its founders have abandoned production and moved abroad. The company has been facing challenges in registering homegrown vehicles due to legal inconsistencies and the lack of objectively defined policies.

In a statement released yesterday, Yatri Motorcycles clarified that they remain committed to their vision of developing world-class electric vehicles in Nepal. The company was registered in 2017 with the aim of creating positive impacts on the environment and society through sustainable manufacturing.

Since its inception, Yatri Motorcycles has been applying for permissions and certificates from various ministries and departments to conduct sales and distribution of their vehicles in Nepal and beyond. In April 2021, the company showcased the pre-production unit of the P-1 dual-sport electric motorcycle.

Despite facing registration challenges due to the lack of provisions for ‘Made-In-Nepal’ vehicles in the law, Yatri Motorcycles is challenging the status quo and persevering towards creating a sustainable future. The company’s mission is to develop innovative electric vehicles that can revolutionize the future of mobility.

Yatri Motorcycles has received recognition and accolades for its sustainable approach to manufacturing. The company believes that the future of mobility is electric and is determined to overcome the challenges it faces and continue to develop innovative electric vehicles.

As Yatri Motorcycles remains steadfast in its commitment to its vision, it is expected to play a crucial role in Nepal’s electric vehicle industry, which has been gaining momentum in recent years.
