Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 to Launch with 25W Fast Charging, Improved Performance, and One UI 5.1.1 Update in July

Samsung is expected to launch its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, later this year. Reports suggest that the handsets have been spotted on a certification website, offering foldable phone enthusiasts a glimpse of what to expect. The model numbers for the two devices are SM-F9460 and SM-F7310, respectively.

The 3C listings for both handsets suggest that they will use Samsung’s 25W charger with a USB Type-C port, the EP-TA800, which will support 25W wired charging. The devices are expected to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and recent Geekbench 6 tests on the purported foldable phones showed slightly higher scores than our benchmarks of the Samsung Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Samsung is also reportedly set to begin mass production of the hinges for its foldable phones at the beginning of June, nearly a month ahead of its usual schedule. This has led to speculation that the company might launch the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in July.

The foldable phones are also expected to debut with One UI 5.1.1 out-of-the-box. The company is said to be testing the upcoming version of its Android 13-based user interface on foldable phones. An update to One UI 5.1.1 is also expected to arrive on a few other Samsung phones, which will add new Galaxy ecosystem functionality and features, improving existing apps and the company’s Flex Mode for its foldable phones.

The use of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and 25W charger could offer improved battery performance on Samsung’s upcoming foldables. With a potential earlier launch date than previously anticipated, Samsung’s latest offerings are highly anticipated in the foldable phone market.
