Get ready to step into the future of fashion with Nike’s latest offering – the Our Force 1 NFT sneaker. Inspired by the iconic Air Force 1 design, Nike is set to launch its first-ever NFT sneaker on its Swoosh platform opening up new avenues for its customers in the Web3 gaming and metaverse ecosystems in May.
Based in Beaverton, Oregon, Nike wants to work with NFT-related marketing initiatives to connect with new customers and showcase its product offerings. To kick off the launch, Nike will begin airdropping virtual posters of the OF1 sneakers to select users registered on its Swoosh platform from April 18. Lucky receivers of these posters will have early access to the OF1 NFTs on May 8, while the sales will open to everyone on May 10.
The OF1 collection comes in two digital boxes – the Classic Remix box and the New Wave box – each priced at $19.82. These boxes contain a digital Our Force 1 version of an iconic Air Force 1, giving Swoosh members a chance to pick up a favorite classic archive AF1 released from 1982 to 2006 in the Classic Remix box, and a classic archive from 2007 or later or an expressive, custom AF1 with a more futuristic twist in the New Wave box.
Nike launched its Swoosh platform in November 2022, focusing on buying, selling, and trading NFTs based on shoes and apparel. Last December, the company acquired virtual design studio RTFKT to accelerate its metaverse and NFT push. Nike’s first NFT collection, Cryptokicks, was launched in April 2021, and its NFTs have sold for as high as $134,000. The company has bagged $185.3 million in NFT sales, and high-end luxury brands including Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana collectively have made $260 million with the sales of their NFT pieces.
